Controlling vibrations: an industrial issue
Shakes, oscillations or vibrations in machines and equipment can lead to significant maintenance costs and acoustic disturbance. In order to reduce the nuisance linked to vibrations, several systems are available:
Elastic couplings are anti-vibration supports that reduce the vibrations produced by transmissions. These supports absorb and dampen transmission torque irregularities and compensate for deflections or lack of alignment and offsets between the driveshafts.
Elastic joints advantageously replace mechanical joints in the case of low amplitude oscillation or pivoting. The bellows or compensators will be particularly suitable for movements and misalignment presenting more compression, elongation and/or flexion.
Sandwich systems effectively absorb vibrations by using one or more layers of elastomers between two flat, parallel metal elements.
Whether in compression (axial), in shear (radial), or in compression-shear, we develop the elastomer solutions you need to eliminate vibrations and ensure optimal operation and comfort of use for all your machines and equipment.
Applications
Both in transport, electronics and in industry in general, anti-vibration applications are numerous. Elastomers, thanks to their unique damping properties, coupled with metallic or polymer systems provide both the elasticity, shear resistance and compression resistance necessary for a quality anti-vibration solution. The anti-vibration effectiveness of your suspensions, mounts, joints and couplings will be increased thanks to ITC elastomers.
